A sunny Sunday morning brought together numerous residents of Derventa and visitors from other cities for a day of socialising and recreation on the Sava River, where the second Derventa Sava Regatta was held along the Korovi–Dubocac route.
With a
great atmosphere, music and a relaxing river cruise, more than 100 participants
in around 30 boats enjoyed the natural beauty of the Sava, confirming that the
event is attracting an increasing number of river and nature enthusiasts each
year.
The
regatta was organised by the City of Derventa, the Derventa Tourist
Organisation and the “Mili Mares” Diving Club, with the support of the
Territorial Fire and Rescue Unit, whose members ensured the safety of all
participants throughout the journey.
Biljana
Teofilović, director of the Derventa Tourist Organisation, said she was
extremely satisfied with the success of the second Sava Regatta.
“I am
extremely pleased, and this is an opportunity to invite everyone to come and
discover our ten-kilometre stretch of the Sava River, a natural gem that is
ideal for sport, recreation and socialising,” Teofilović said.
One of the organisers, Zoran Čolić, also expressed his satisfaction with the strong turnout.
“We
sailed from Korovi towards Dubočac, with a stop in Trstenici. We had more than
100 participants, which is far more than we expected. The weather was on our
side, the atmosphere was excellent, and I believe the regatta will continue to
grow. We are already cooperating with organisers of other regattas because we
want to further develop this event and attract even more river enthusiasts. Our
youngest participant, Maksim, is four and a half years old, while the oldest,
Đorđo, is 87,” Čolić said.
Among
the participants was Nedim Moralić from Gračanica, who is no stranger to the
Sava River, having sailed it for the sixth time.
“Thanks
to our friends from Derventa, who invited us, we came to take part. We also
participate in regattas organised throughout the region. The river is calm, it
is beautiful to sail, and the organisation is excellent. This is an experience
that cannot be forgotten,” Moralić said.
Derventa Mayor Igor Žunić emphasised that the main goal of the regatta is to promote the Sava River and its tourism potential.
“The
Sava is one of Derventa’s greatest natural treasures. Twelve kilometres of this
river flow through our city, and we want to promote it as much as possible. The
regatta is one of the best ways to showcase its beauty, and we are delighted
that it brings together more and more participants every year. This year, we
have more than 100 participants in around 30 boats, and most importantly,
everything took place in an excellent atmosphere and with the highest level of
safety,” Žunić said.
He
added that the City of Derventa plans to continue investing in tourism
infrastructure along the Sava River.
“We
have already developed a fishing trail that is among the best in the Republic
of Srpska. The next step is to improve the beaches along the Ukrina River,
while in Dubočac we are planning to develop a camping area, facilities for
kayakers and other recreational amenities, making the Sava even more accessible
to residents and tourists,” the mayor of Derventa emphasised.
