SAČIJADA BRINGS TOGETHER TRADITIONAL CUISINE LOVERS ON THE BANKS OF THE PLIVA RIVER

The aroma of traditional dishes, friendly competition, and local hospitality filled the banks of the Pliva River as "Sačijada", a gastronomic festival celebrating food prepared under the traditional sač (metal bell), brought together culinary enthusiasts, visitors, and teams from across Republika Srpska.

More than 13 teams took part in this year's competition, preparing authentic dishes while showcasing the rich culinary heritage of the region. The event also served as an opportunity to promote Jezero's tourism potential, natural beauty, and local traditions.

Mayor of Jezero Snežana Ružičić said the festival aims to preserve customs, strengthen community ties, and attract more visitors each year.

She noted that this year's participants came from Banja Luka, Prijedor, Šipovo, Mrkonjić Grad, and Laktaši, expressing hope that the event will grow into a regional festival with around 40 competing teams next year.

A Showcase of Homemade Specialties

In addition to preparing meals under the sač, participating teams presented a wide variety of homemade delicacies at their stands, including traditional bread, pies, cornbread, cakes, kajmak, cured meat, and other local specialties.

The festival attracted a large number of families and children, creating a lively atmosphere along the Pliva River.

Celebrating Local Heritage

As part of the event, awards were also presented for the Most Beautifully Decorated Yard in Jezero, with 15 households participating in the competition.

Organized under the patronage of the Municipality of Jezero, "Sačijada" continues to promote traditional cuisine, preserve local customs, and position Jezero as an attractive destination for visitors seeking authentic gastronomy, unspoiled nature, and warm hospitality.
