BANJA LUKA has gained another beautifully arranged space for relaxation, recreation and enjoying nature, with the official opening of a new section of the riverside promenade along the Vrbas River.

The newly completed section connects the beach in the Sitari area, known as the Swedish Beach, with Vrućica, creating a new attractive route for pedestrians and visitors looking to enjoy the natural surroundings of the city.

During the opening ceremony, Banja Luka Mayor Draško Stanivuković said that the project represents another important step towards the continued development of the Vrbas riverbank and the creation of new public spaces available to all citizens.

"Another stage of the Vrbas riverbank development has been successfully completed, and we are pleased with the results. The number of people who come here every day speaks volumes about what Banja Luka residents think of the development of the Vrbas riverbanks and confirms that this is one of the projects they value most. This motivates us to continue moving forward," Stanivuković said.

The mayor also announced that work is underway on the preparation of project documentation for the construction of a cable car in Banja Luka.

"In the future, you will be able to travel by cable car from Vrućica and Terme Banja Luka to restaurants, hotels, a viewpoint and the monument on Banj Brdo, which we also plan to renovate. Therefore, our next major project is to complete the project documentation for the cable car, after which we will secure funding and begin construction," Stanivuković said.

He added that, alongside the cable car project, the city is also working on plans for a tram system, the development of Kastel Fortress, the completion of the water supply project, the construction of a large pedestrian bridge connecting the Palas Hotel and Kastel Fortress, as well as a new public parking garage.

"Banja Luka is moving forward relentlessly," Stanivuković concluded.

The new section of the promenade is expected to become one of the city's favourite destinations for walking, recreation and enjoying the natural beauty of Banja Luka and the Vrbas River.
