The Banja Luka-based citizens’ association Superbrke is marking Men’s Mental Health Month throughout June with a series of activities aimed at raising awareness about the importance of mental well-being, encouraging open conversations about the challenges men face, and motivating individuals to seek support when they need it.
This
year’s campaign is being carried out under the slogan: “SPEAK UP, BROTHER.”
In a
society where men are often expected to remain strong, stay silent about their
struggles, and carry the burden of everyday challenges on their own, mental
health continues to be surrounded by stigma and misconceptions. For that
reason, June serves as an opportunity to remind the public that true strength
lies not in hiding emotions, but in sharing them with family members, friends,
or mental health professionals.
Mental
health plays a crucial role in quality of life, personal relationships, work
performance, and overall well-being. Issues such as anxiety, depression,
stress, loneliness, and burnout can affect anyone regardless of age,
profession, or social status. According to the organizers, open conversation is
often the first and most important step toward recovery and support.
As part of Men’s Mental Health Month, Superbrke has also launched a charity sale of a special edition of its signature T-shirts.
Proceeds from the campaign will
directly support the Brko Fund and its activities focused on promoting men’s
health, education, and public awareness of important health-related topics.
Throughout
June, special attention will be given to the four Fridays of the month, known
as the “Blue Fridays,” which are dedicated to promoting mental health awareness
among men. Several events will be organized around these dates, including a
special lecture on men’s mental health where experts will discuss the most
common challenges of modern life, methods of preserving mental well-being,
recognizing warning signs, and the importance of seeking professional help in a
timely manner.
The
central event of the campaign will take place in the second half of June at
Vidovdanska bb in Banja Luka. The gathering will feature music, social
activities, and a friendly atmosphere while highlighting the goals of Men’s
Mental Health Month and presenting the special edition Superbrke T-shirts.
The
organizers say the event will send a powerful message that no one should face
their problems alone.
“We
invite all citizens to join us, support the Brko Fund by purchasing charity
Superbrke T-shirts, and help create a society in which it is completely normal
to talk about how we feel. Sometimes just two words can change everything:
‘Speak up, brother,’” Superbrke said in a statement.
