MAJEVICA TRAIL GATHERS 365 RUNNERS: BUSIJA EMERGES AS A NEW ACTIVE TOURISM DESTINATION

The second edition of the Majevica Trail recreational race was held at Busija on Mount Majevica, bringing together 365 runners from Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and other countries in the region. Participants competed on a five-kilometre course that winds through the scenic landscapes of Majevica, more than 800 metres above sea level.

The event's organizer, Mladen Stevanović, said the main goal of the race is to promote sports, the natural beauty of Majevica, and a healthy lifestyle.

"We are delighted that interest in the race has grown compared to last year and that more and more people are discovering Majevica. Events like this show that nature and recreation are a perfect combination," Stevanović said.

Winners from Serbia and Republika Srpska

The men's race was won by Nikola Vučković from Pančevo, Serbia, who praised both the challenging course and the excellent organization.

"This is my first time here. The course is short but very demanding. The organization is excellent, and I will definitely come back," Vučković said.

In the women's competition, Cvijeta Rikanović from Lopare claimed first place.

Busija Strengthens Its Tourism Appeal

The race was officially opened by Rado Savić, Mayor of Lopare Municipality, who thanked all participants, organizers, and volunteers for making the event a success.

According to Savić, the municipality has proudly supported the event for the second consecutive year, highlighting its importance in promoting Mount Majevica and developing sports tourism.

"Events like this prove that Busija is becoming a recognizable destination for recreation, outdoor activities, and nature tourism," Savić said.

The five-kilometre trail takes runners through forests and picturesque viewpoints, offering a unique combination of athletic challenge and unspoiled nature. With a growing number of participants each year, Majevica Trail is steadily establishing itself as one of the region's most attractive outdoor sporting events and an excellent opportunity to discover the natural beauty of Mount Majevica.
