Banja Luka Airport is currently in negotiations to launch four new routes for the upcoming 2025/26 winter season, set to begin in late October.
“We are in talks regarding four new routes for the winter season. At this stage, I cannot disclose the specific destinations as contracts are yet to be finalized. However, Banja Luka has great potential to expand its route network by introducing destinations that are not only attractive to the diaspora but also important and appealing to the local population,” said Valentina Kecman, acting CEO of Banja Luka Airport.
Although official confirmation is still pending, it is believed that the new destinations include Istanbul, Copenhagen, Malmö, and Hamburg.
Banja Luka Airport has already experienced a strong increase in passenger traffic during the first quarter of this year, primarily due to increased flight frequencies by Ryanair and Wizz Air. From January to March, the airport handled 88,653 passengers, marking a 47.1% increase compared to the same period in 2024. However, that figure still represents a 5% decline from the first quarter of 2023.
For the upcoming summer season, Banja Luka Airport is expecting a capacity boost of 18.2%, with 357,060 available seats. Ryanair will remain the airport’s dominant carrier, accounting for 78.1% of the total planned summer capacity.
Additionally, Banja Luka will offer regular charter flights this summer to Athens, Antalya, and Hurghada.
