Derventa – The Serbian Educational and Cultural Society SPKD Prosvjeta awarded prizes for the most beautiful Cyrillic handwriting at an event that also featured the presentation of the “Nomocanon of Saint Sava” (Zakonopravilo Svetog Save), the Tvrdoš-Savina manuscript copy.
A total of 108 entries from across Republika Srpska were submitted to the competition, with organizers noting that interest was higher than in previous years.
According to Dalibor Đekić, president of the
Derventa branch of “Prosvjeta,” the main goal of the competition is to preserve
the Serbian language and the Cyrillic script.
“Our goal is to preserve our language and our
script. I am pleased that the entries are becoming better every year and that
the love for Cyrillic is growing among children and young people,” Đekić said.
The award ceremony was attended by Derventa
Mayor Igor Žunić, who described the event as one of the most beautiful cultural
programs organized by “Prosvjeta.”
“As we know, the Cyrillic script is both our
past and our future. It is wonderful to see children writing in what many
consider the most beautiful script in the world. The local community will
always support projects like this, and I hope there will be even more of them
in the future,” Žunić said.
This year’s competition theme focused on texts by Dositej Obradović. Awards were presented in four categories: younger primary school students, older primary school students, high school students, and adults.
