In accordance with the Law on Holidays of Republika Srpska, non-working days for the Republic holiday - International Workers' Day, are on May 1st and 2nd, 2024, as well as Thursday, May 9th.
On Republic holidays, Republic authorities and organizations, local self-government units, companies, institutions, and other organizations, along with individuals professionally engaged in service and production activities, do not operate.
As per the Decision on Determining Working Hours for Legal Entities and Entrepreneurs Engaged in Trade, Crafts, and Services in the city, on May 1st and 9th:
From 00:00 to 24:00, legal entities and entrepreneurs engaged in the production of bread, pastries, fresh pasta and cakes, and their sale; "drugstore" type retail stores and retail stores at bus and railway stations and gas stations, and
From 8:00 to 21:00, retail stores specializing in funeral supplies.
These entities are also permitted to operate on May 2nd. Additionally, on the second day of the Republic holiday, in the city of Banja Luka, from 8:00 to 16:00, legal entities and entrepreneurs engaged in trade, crafts, and services, as well as shopping centers, can operate from 8:00 to 22:00.
Employers are obliged to ensure that employees working on the upcoming holidays are granted their rights in accordance with labor laws.
Hospitality establishments will operate in accordance with the Decision on Determining Working Hours for Hospitality Facilities in the city of Banja Luka.
Non-working days for Easter holidays
On the Orthodox Easter, which is a religious holiday according to the Law on Holidays of Republika Srpska ("Official Gazette of Republika Srpska", No. 43/07), the non-working days for Orthodox believers will be:
May 3rd (Orthodox Good Friday),
May 5th (Easter Sunday), and
May 6th, 2024 (Easter Monday).
Orthodox believers have the right to paid leave from work on these days.
