BANJA LUKA – A new air connection between Banja Luka and Tivat was officially launched on June 9, as an aircraft operated by Montenegro’s national carrier, Air Montenegro, landed at Banja Luka International Airport on its first promotional flight on the Tivat–Banja Luka–Tivat route.
The
ceremonial welcome at Banja Luka Airport was attended by representatives of Air
Montenegro and Tivat Airport, as well as Republika Srpska Minister of Transport
and Communications Zoran Stevanović, Banja Luka Airport Director Valentina
Kecman, and officials from the Ministry of Trade and Tourism of Republika
Srpska.
According
to Kecman, the new route is of great importance for citizens of Republika
Srpska, providing a fast and convenient connection to Montenegro’s Adriatic
coast.
“Passengers
can now reach the Montenegrin seaside in approximately 35 minutes,” she said,
adding that the promotional round-trip ticket price is €107 and that flights
between Banja Luka and Tivat will operate twice a week.
Stevanović
described the launch as an important milestone not only for Banja Luka Airport
but also for the broader development of air transport in Republika Srpska.
“It is
essential that we continue to encourage growth and increase passenger traffic
at the airport. We must keep opening new destinations in the region and,
hopefully very soon, across Europe. The Government of Republika Srpska and the
relevant ministry will do everything possible to ensure this is only the first
of many new routes from our airport,” Stevanović said.
Among the passengers arriving on the inaugural flight was Roko Tolić, Director of Airports of Montenegro, who highlighted the personal significance of the new connection.
“For
many years I served as director of Dubrovnik Airport, and for the past two
years I have been leading Airports of Montenegro. I have helped launch numerous
routes around the world, but this one is especially emotional for me because it
connects to my hometown,” Tolić said.
Air
Montenegro CEO Vukadin Stojanović expressed satisfaction with the launch of the
service and voiced optimism about establishing long-term cooperation with
Republika Srpska.
The
new route is expected to strengthen tourism, business ties, and travel
opportunities between Republika Srpska and Montenegro, offering passengers a
quick and affordable link between Banja Luka and the Adriatic coast.
