The Public Library “Branko Ćopić” in Brod has launched an initiative to create a life-size sculpture dedicated to the legendary poet Duško Trifunović.
The goal of the project is to permanently
commemorate the work of one of the most significant poets in the region and to
remind younger generations of the importance of poetry and cultural heritage.
The sculpture is planned to be installed in Trifunović’s hometown of Brod,
serving as a lasting tribute to his artistic legacy.
The total value of the project amounts to
36,000 convertible marks (BAM). So far, 21,000 BAM has been raised, while an
additional 15,000 BAM is needed to complete the project.
Organizers emphasize that donations should be paid to the foreign currency account of the Municipality of Brod, with the reference: “Izrada skulpture pjesnika Duška Trifunovića” (Construction of the Sculpture of Poet Duško Trifunović), in order to ensure that the funds are properly allocated to this cultural initiative.
Duško Trifunović (1933–2006) left a profound
mark on the literature and music of the former Yugoslavia. His verses became
part of numerous songs and remain embedded in the cultural identity of the
region to this day.
The initiative to erect his sculpture in Brod
represents an effort to preserve his work permanently in the public space of
the town where he was born, offering future generations a tangible reminder of
his contribution to poetry and the arts.
