Organized by Tennis Club “Elit,” the “Kaćin Memorial,” an international junior tournament, has officially begun in Banja Luka, bringing together 120 participants from 24 countries.
The tournament is part of the calendar of the International Tennis Federation (ITF), and the winner will earn 30 points for the ITF World Junior Ranking. The competition runs until February 28.
Organizers: Great Responsibility and Importance for Young Players
Director of TK “Elit,” Zoran Zrnić, emphasized that hosting such an event is both a major responsibility and an opportunity to promote tennis.
“We have an obligation to ensure that everything runs at the highest level. We are hosting young tennis players from 24 countries. We have provided courts for matches and practice sessions, and I would like to thank our colleagues from TK ‘Banjaluka’ and TK ‘Borac’ for their cooperation. This tournament will greatly contribute to the development of young players,” said Zrnić.
Local Ambitions and Positive Impressions from Guests
Among the participants is Petar Biletić from Kiseljak, the junior champion of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who has clear ambitions.
“My goal is to win the tournament, but I’m taking it step by step. First, I need to get through the qualifiers. The competition is strong, and everyone wants to prove themselves and earn as many ranking points as possible,” said Biletić.
Mirela Feron from Ukraine also shared her impressions.
“The city is truly beautiful. I came from Serbia, where I trained with my team. The people here are very kind, and the tennis club looks amazing. The courts are very well prepared, and the organization is at an exceptional level,” Feron said.
Tournament Held in Honor of Katarina Trivić
The “Kaćin Memorial” is held in honor of young Banja Luka native Katarina Trivić, who passed away in 2024 after a long and serious illness. Kaća was a multiple champion of Republika Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and she also won tournaments in the Tennis Europe category.
