The site of Kameni Most near Banja Luka, one of the most impressive geomorphological phenomena in the region, is set to receive a completely new look, allowing both local residents and numerous visitors to fully enjoy the magnificence of this natural wonder.
The announcement was made by the City’s
project manager Milada Šukalo, who emphasized that the project includes the
development of walking trails, viewpoints, and rest areas, as well as the
installation of informational boards and environmentally friendly supporting
infrastructure — all with full respect for the site’s natural values.
“Kameni Most is not only a natural phenomenon,
but also a symbol of the strength and beauty of our region. The restoration of
trails and viewpoints will enable visitors to experience it in its full
grandeur, while offering new opportunities for tourism development to the local
community,” Šukalo stated.
With the newly arranged space, Kameni Most will become part of the renowned hiking and trekking route Via Dinarica, attracting nature lovers and hikers from across the region.
“Our goal is to ensure that every step along
the trails is safe and comfortable, allowing visitors to enjoy the majestic
natural arch and connect with nature,” Šukalo added.
The project is being implemented by the City
of Banja Luka with financial support from the United Nations Development
Programme. In addition to restoring and arranging the site, the initiative will
contribute to the economic and social development of the areas of Krmine, Krupa
na Vrbasu, and Ljubačevo, extend tourists’ stays, and strengthen the overall
tourism offer of Banja Luka and the wider region in line with sustainable
development principles.
“Kameni Most is no longer just a drawing on
paper or a distant natural formation. It is becoming a place where nature and
tourism live together,” Šukalo concluded.
