This unique event, held as part of the GiftsNet project, brought the Kastel Fortress to life through interactive installations that transported attendees back in time. The experience offered an unforgettable evening, especially for the youngest visitors.
A variety of engaging activities within the “Night of Fortresses” event drew numerous visitors to the Kastel Fortress in Banja Luka, where they had the opportunity to explore cultural and historical heritage, take part in medieval games, see how life once looked within fortress walls, and enjoy open-air music under the stars.
Mladen Čikić, representing the "Rusag" Association, said that the event was enhanced with the help of various props and games for children.
“Kastel is one of the most beautiful fortresses in the country, and events like this can certainly contribute to the development of historical tourism at the site,” Čikić stated.
The program included workshops such as “Little Archaeologists” and “The Fortress Through the Ages,” children's knightly games, and a musical program.
This year’s edition was held under the slogan “Night of Fortresses Goes Green,” emphasizing the connection between cultural heritage and environmental responsibility.
Over the past three years, Night of Fortresses has brought together more than 50 locations across eight countries and 40 cities, including coastal and inland fortresses, castles, museums, galleries, and fortified towns. Through this successful initiative, the event has demonstrated its potential for developing sustainable cultural tourism and strengthening international cooperation.
