In the village of Gornje Crnjelovo near Bijeljina, within the grounds of the Church of the Ascension of the Lord, lies the traditional “Semberija Ethno Household”, a unique cultural site that is also open to tourists and visitors.
This authentic ethno village represents a
place of gathering, spirituality and cultural heritage, surrounded by beautiful
nature, peace and the warm hospitality of the people of Semberija — a region
known for its hardworking and welcoming hosts.
With its traditional architecture and
carefully preserved objects from the past, the ethno household offers visitors
a glimpse into the way of life once lived by generations of ancestors. The main
goal behind the creation of this village was to preserve the customs, culture
and traditions of the Serbian people and the wider Semberija region.
The idea for building the ethno household was born in 2017, driven by a desire to protect the heritage and lifestyle of previous generations from being forgotten. The project began with the blessing of Metropolitan Fotije and with the support of the city administration.
A major contribution to the realization of the
project came from the women’s humanitarian and cultural association Circle of
Serbian Sisters “Saint Angelina of Serbia”, led by president Nada Zakić, along
with the dedicated engagement of parish priest Radmilo Radović.
Today, the “Semberija Ethno Household” stands
as a symbol of tradition, faith and identity, preserving the spirit of old
times while welcoming new generations and visitors from around the world.
