The 36th World Tourism Film Awards crowned The Ride of a Lifetime, a campaign by Switzerland Tourism, as the Best Tourism Film of the Year.
Featuring tennis legend Roger Federer and comedian Trevor Noah, the campaign promotes the Grand Train Tour of Switzerland with a blend of humor and stunning visuals.
In the award-winning production, Federer and Noah find themselves on a scenic adventure after a mix-up during a commercial shoot, proving that in Switzerland, you’re never on the “wrong train.” The film not only won the prestigious title in the Tourism Products category but also claimed the CIFFT Tourism Press Award 2024.
Switzerland’s achievements continued with The Perfect Shot winning in the Country Promotion category and Autumn for Our Senses securing fifth place in the same category.
The winning video was evaluated by a jury of 84 travel journalists from leading international media outlets, including representatives of the portal SeeSrpska, who also attended the award ceremony. The jury praised the campaign, describing it as “charming, hilarious, tension-filled, brilliant” and “a unique and funny story with characters that connect instantly.”
Organized by the International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals (CIFFT), the awards highlight the synergy between tourism and storytelling. This year’s competition saw 66 entries from 23 countries, all vying for recognition in the CIFFT Circuit, a global contest for tourism films and campaigns.
“The Ride of a Lifetime beautifully captures the essence of Swiss tourism through humor and storytelling. This recognition reflects the exceptional quality of the film and the expertise of our jury, ensuring we celebrate the most impactful tourism narratives,” said Alexander V. Kammel, CIFFT Director.
The awards ceremony in Valencia marked the culmination of the CIFFT Circuit, bringing together leaders from tourism and creative industries to celebrate the best in tourism promotion. This year, 27 productions from 16 countries were recognized across five categories, showcasing the industry’s top trends.
The CIFFT Circuit is now accepting entries for 2025. Tourism professionals and filmmakers are encouraged to submit their best works for a chance to compete for the title of World’s Best Tourism Film of the Year and the prestigious Tourism Press Award.
