With the aim of introducing final-year primary school students to various professions and career paths, the “Career Fair 2026” officially opened on the last day of March at the Youth Center in Banja Luka, the largest city of Republika Srpska.
The
two-day event brought together secondary schools from Banja Luka, offering
students valuable guidance in their professional orientation. The fair is
designed to help ninth-grade students recognize their talents and interests
when choosing their future careers and further education, while also
familiarizing them with the professions and vocational programs available in
local high schools.
Speaking
on behalf of the organizer, the City Development Agency, Momir Širko emphasized
that the primary goal of the fair is to provide primary school students with
insight into various professions, as well as into the educational process
itself, giving them much-needed support in shaping their career paths.
The event was officially opened by Milada Šukalo, Project Manager for the City of Banja Luka, who highlighted that the fair serves as an important platform to present young people with a wide range of career opportunities and their potential prospects. She also noted that such initiatives significantly support the business sector, which is currently facing a shortage of skilled workers in certain fields.
Assistant Minister for Secondary Education and Adult Education, Bojana Kos, stated that a new regulation on student enrollment in the first grade of secondary schools for the upcoming academic year has come into force. Following its publication, the “Guide Through Professions” application will also be updated.
Saša
Trivić, Vice President of the Employers’ Union, pointed out that events like
this provide an excellent opportunity for students and their parents to explore
available professions in secondary education, while also offering clear
benefits for employers.
The
“Career Fair 2026” is organized by the City Development Agency, with the
support of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Republika Srpska, the
Employers’ Union of Republika Srpska, and the City of Banja Luka.
