QUAD RIDING MADE SMART AND SAFE: THE "ATV KRU" APP IS COMING

A new app designed for quad (ATV) riders called ATV Kru, developed by independent entrepreneur Željko Dobrojević from Doboj, is set to hit the market in early June. Its primary goal is to improve safety for drivers engaging in this adventurous sport.

Given that quad riding often involves rough, forested, and mountainous terrain, Dobrojević explained to Srna that the app allows users to track the location of other riders connected through the app—even in areas without GPS signal—using Wi-Fi technology.

“Even when a rider chooses not to share their location, in case of an accident or rollover, the app will respond with a voice prompt,” Dobrojević said. “If the user does not react within a set time, an alert is sent to nearby riders and the administrator.”

The first rider to reach the alert location can "check in," describe the situation encountered, and inform others in the network if further action is needed.

According to Dobrojević, this app is unique on the market because it covers all necessary aspects: safety, logistics, social interaction, tourism, and humanitarian use. It’s designed for both individuals and companies that rent out ATVs.

A prototype is complete, while the integration phase is ongoing due to the complexity of the system. The final product will feature both software (for Android and iOS) and a hardware component, with packages tailored to the user's experience and interests.

“We’ve created a connected community of riders,” Dobrojević explained. “Each rider gets a personal profile with features like registering vehicle types, using existing maps or creating new ones, locating and warning others about obstacles on the trail.”

From a safety perspective, Dobrojević plans to connect the app with systems like mountain rescue services and civil protection units for mutual benefit.

“Rescue teams will have accurate locations of injured riders thanks to emitted signals, while the rider community—thanks to the mobility of their vehicles—can reach difficult terrain faster and assist authorities.”

The app will also include artificial intelligence (AI) features that analyze and provide riding suggestions. The optional hardware component will read quad computer data directly and sync with the app.

“This gives us information like engine oil temperature or belt heat—everything needed to protect the vehicle and rider,” Dobrojević added.

Rental companies will also benefit, as the app allows them to locate vehicles and monitor ride characteristics in real time, warning drivers about risky behavior when needed.

The app will integrate a logistics network too, connecting riders with nearby service shops and parts suppliers.

Dobrojević emphasized that the Doboj area and Mount Ozren are ideal and scenic for quad riders. The mapped trails will also serve cyclists and hikers.

Željko Dobrojević founded his digital marketing agency Prokreativ Studio in August 2020. With a sister company operating in Montenegro and a partner company in Serbia, he now aims to strengthen his presence across the EU.

Looking ahead, he plans to expand into Ecuador as a springboard for potential entry into the broader American market.
