Registrations are currently open in Foča for the regatta on the upper section of the Drina River, from the Bastasi Rafting Camp to the confluence with the Ćehotina River, which will take place as part of the traditional “Drina Adventure” event on July 28th.
Since 2017, the organizer of the “Drina Adventure,” the Foča Movement, has aimed to promote the Drina River in the most beautiful way possible, particularly its uppermost, cleanest, and many consider the most beautiful section, from Šćepan Polje, where it forms by the merging of the Tara and Piva rivers, to Foča, the first town along this river.
From a tourism perspective, the Drina is unjustly neglected, yet it is ideal for family outings and enjoying its crystal-clear waters, sandy beaches, and the paradisiacal greenery that surrounds it, emphasize representatives from the Foča Movement.
This year, they have introduced a new feature—a family regatta, which has garnered great interest.
- For family boats, the registration fee is reduced to 30 KM per person, while for others it is 50 KM. As organizers, we will take care of everything: transportation from King Peter Square in Foča to the Bastasi camp, boats, paddles, life jackets, helmets, licensed skippers—safety is our top priority. Additionally, we have provided lunch for all participants—a military-style bean stew, on the beach in Kopilovi, says the president of the Foča Movement, Mladen Mandić.
Participants can also bring their own boats, and the organizer, Mandić, mentions that they are available to help with transportation if needed.
- In cooperation with rafting camps, we have a special offer for couples, who can rent two-seater canoes, dakije, for 100 KM, or 50 KM per person. Truly, it is recommended for couples, as drifting down the Drina in canoes is exhilarating, adds Mandić.
The regatta will be preceded by an ecological action to clean the banks and riverbeds of the Tara and Drina Rivers, in collaboration with rafting camps, on Friday, July 26th.
