MUSHROOM DAYS OF BALKANA BRING TOGETHER HUNDREDS OF HIKERS AND NATURE LOVERS

Hundreds of hikers, mushroom enthusiasts and nature lovers gathered on the slopes of Lisina Mountain near Mrkonjić Grad for the traditional “Mushroom Days of Balkana” event, organised by PED “Vidik” Mrkonjić Grad.

Participants explored mushroom habitats along two circular hiking trails of different difficulty levels, allowing both experienced hikers and recreational visitors to enjoy the beautiful autumn landscape of Lisina.

Perfect weather, plenty of mushrooms and a rich programme made this year’s gathering a memorable outdoor experience.

MUSHROOMS FOR BOTH THE EXHIBITION AND THE SOUP

After the hike, participants gathered at Rasadnik near Balkana, where an exhibition showcased mushrooms collected in the surrounding forests.

Mushroom expert Rade Gašić gave an educational lecture on mushroom identification, their characteristics and importance, sharing his knowledge with visitors.

The event also attracted representatives of mushroom associations from Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia, some of whom helped create the exhibition.

There were enough mushrooms this year not only for an impressive exhibition, but also for a traditional mushroom soup served to participants.

BALKANA AND LISINA ATTRACT NATURE LOVERS FROM ACROSS THE REGION

Hundreds of visitors enjoyed hiking on the slopes of Lisina, socialising and taking part in a programme that combined hiking, mushroom hunting, education and outdoor activities.

“Mushroom Days of Balkana” once again highlighted the tourism potential of Mrkonjić Grad, Balkana and Lisina, offering visitors an authentic combination of untouched nature, local flavours and outdoor adventure.
