Authentic local products from Derventa and the wider Posavina region will soon gain direct access to the market following the decision of the city assembly to establish the “Posavska kuća” (Posavina House). The project follows the successful examples of “Krajiška kuća”, “Hercegovačka kuća”, “Kuća Lijevča i Potkozarja”, and “Naša prodavnica” in Prnjavor.
“Posavska
kuća” will operate within the Tourist Organization of Derventa and is
envisioned as a modern concept for the organized promotion and sale of
authentic agricultural and food products from the Posavina region.
According
to the director of the Tourist Organization, Biljana Teofilović, the facility
will function as a branded exhibition and retail space bringing together
registered producers from Derventa and the surrounding Posavina area.
The
offer will include a wide range of products such as cheeses, cured meat
specialties, honey and bee products, processed fruit and vegetable goods, as
well as traditional alcoholic beverages including rakija, wines, and liqueurs.
In
addition to food products, an important place will be reserved for souvenirs,
handicrafts, and traditional artisan products, further supporting the
development of the rural economy.
A
special focus will be placed on food quality and safety control. All products
offered through “Posavska kuća” will be required to meet legal standards,
including laboratory analyses, certificates, and proper labeling.
“In
this way, consumer trust will be ensured while creating a foundation for the
long-term positioning of domestic products on the market,” said Teofilović.
Participation will be open to all registered agricultural producers and entrepreneurs who meet the prescribed conditions. Interested producers will also receive institutional support through education programs, advisory services, and assistance in the certification process.
The
Tourist Organization emphasized that the Posavina region represents an
exceptional resource, but that its full potential requires an organized market
approach. The project is expected to provide added value to local products
while preserving tradition and cultural heritage.
Officials say that by promoting old crafts and authentic products, the initiative will contribute not only to economic development but also to enriching the tourist offer of the region.
The
entire project was launched with the support of the City Administration, with a
clear focus on strengthening the competitiveness of small agricultural
households and developing recognizable domestic brands.
Mayor
of Derventa, Igor Žunić, explained that the project is being implemented
through IFAD in cooperation with the Agricultural Cooperative and the Tourist
Organization.
“We
are currently in the final stages of equipping and registering the facility,
and I believe that in about a month we will officially open the doors of
Posavska kuća,” Žunić said, adding that both local residents and visitors will
have the opportunity to experience the quality of domestic products firsthand.
He
also expressed hope that the project could encourage younger generations to
become more involved in local production and remain in rural areas by offering
them clearer market opportunities for their products.
Local producers have warmly welcomed the initiative. The establishment of “Posavska kuća” was especially praised by local beekeepers.
Dušan
Pijetlović, president of the “Lipa” Beekeepers Association, said the project
would provide beekeepers with a reliable place to present and directly sell
their honey and bee products to customers.
“This
is an opportunity to further promote domestic production and raise awareness
about the importance of buying local products. What is especially important for
us is educating consumers to recognize genuine homemade honey and distinguish
it from industrial products,” Pijetlović emphasized.
Organic
producer Dragana Duvnjak Krndija, who owns a rosehip plantation, also welcomed
the project, describing it as major support for local farmers.
“I
hope that Posavska kuća will achieve success for the benefit of both producers
and visitors,” she said, adding that she believes it will become a place of
gathering, cooperation, and development.
