The new tourist season is on the horizon, and for tourism professionals in the southernmost part of Srpska, there has been no rest even during the winter. Herzegovina’s key strengths lie in gastronomy and wine tourism, alongside its rich religious and cultural heritage.
To gain greater visibility on regional and global tourist maps, attending fairs and promoting tourist offerings play a crucial role.
One of the undeniable highlights on Herzegovina’s tourist map is its diverse gastronomic scene. The southern part of Srpska boasts a rich selection of savory and sweet homemade delicacies, attracting new visitors and welcoming back returning guests.
"Tourists love traditional Herzegovinian cuisine, which includes dishes prepared under the bell (sač), cicvara, priganice, and homemade platters," says Jelena Šakotić, a chef.
No wine experience in Herzegovina is complete without a taste of its signature varieties, Žilavka and Vranac. These aromatic white and red wines are an essential part of the region’s enogastronomic offer.
Trebinje’s Tourist Organization was among the exhibitors at three major international tourism fairs held in Belgrade, Vienna, and Banja Luka, alongside domestic and international participants.
"Trebinje’s key attractions include religious, cultural, and sports-recreational tourism. We always strive to present as many tourism-related businesses as possible," said Žarko Vico, Deputy Director of Trebinje’s Tourist Organization.
With its unique blend of tradition, flavors, and culture, Trebinje continues to strengthen its position as a must-visit destination on the tourist map.
