The closing event brought together numerous children from Trebinje’s kindergartens, elementary schools, and children’s associations. Through songs, games, and creative performances, they delighted the audience and symbolically marked the end of the manifestation.

Children’s Week, celebrated across the Republic of Srpska at the beginning of October, aims to raise awareness of children’s rights and responsibilities, as well as the importance of a healthy and happy childhood.

President of the Trebinje City Assembly, Zdravko Butulija, emphasized that the City of Trebinje participates actively in organizing this event every year, recognizing the importance of supporting children.

“Children’s Week is an opportunity to draw public attention to children’s rights — their need for love, care, safety, and education. Our city recognizes this and always strives to ensure that children are at the center of attention and support,” said Butulija.

Nemanja Sorajić, Head of the Department for Family and Rural Development, highlighted that the programs of Children’s Week have both educational and social value, allowing children to develop skills and a sense of togetherness through play and socializing.

“This year’s slogan, ‘It’s Important to Be a Child – Carefree and Happy,’ reminds us that we must provide children with a safe and encouraging environment. Throughout all our activities this week, we have worked to give them just that,” Sorajić said.

The Children’s Week program in Trebinje took place from October 6 until today and included numerous activities — from mutual visits between kindergartens and schools to creative workshops, visits to associations, and a reception with the Mayor of Trebinje, Mirko Ćurić.
