Located in Grabik Ilova, about five kilometers from the center of Prnjavor, the "Ivel" Rural Household hosts an Educational Development Center dedicated to outdoor education.
Vegetable gardens, forest walks, seasonal checkpoints,
nature’s produce, learning about nature through play and direct experience—this
is how outdoor lessons are conducted at the Educational Development Center, the
first of its kind in the Republic of Srpska.
The "Ivel" Rural Household has long been more than just a tourist attraction.
It opened its doors to students, offering workshops on healthy
eating, vegetable gardening, handicrafts, and sports. These activities allow
children to explore the various aspects of rural life.
"We wanted to give children the opportunity to learn
about nature while being in nature. Our idea has been supported by the Ministry
of Education and Culture, as well as the Republic Pedagogical Institute. We
believe that such an open space allows children to learn and apply the
knowledge they have gained in the classroom," said Aleksandra Samac from
the "Ivel" Rural Household.
She explained that the idea was born from the desire to
provide children with practical knowledge about nature, such as planting or
harvesting their first crop. Visitors can adapt their school plans and
knowledge to outdoor education.
