A new tourist complex is set to emerge soon on the shores of the magnificent Đol Lake, the pride of Jezero Municipality. This development will feature beaches, jogging trails, and vacation homes, all constructed in a planned manner to preserve the natural appearance of the land, lake, shoreline, and protected environment.
The project presentation for the development on Đol Lake,
which is part of the Municipality’s Development Strategy for 2019-2028, aimed
at finding possibilities for planned and legal construction on this site, was
attended by various stakeholders, including landowners in the area.
According to Snežana Ružičić, the Mayor of Jezero,
landowners were briefed on the plans and provided their suggestions and
feedback to enhance the lake's tourist potential.
“Although these are individual parcels, as a municipality
focused on tourism development, we have taken it upon ourselves to protect Đol
Lake as a significant potential and have prohibited construction until a
planning document is prepared,” said Ružičić.
She added that the envisioned construction involves individual buildings that will be identical or very similar, creating an attractive tourist complex aimed at tourism development.
Ružičić emphasized that landowners agreed to create a communal
jogging trail through all the parcels. While they will build vacation homes at
their own expense, there is potential for public-private partnerships where the
municipality may co-fund and assist in developing essential infrastructure such
as the sewage system.
“I am very proud that we reached an agreement as it is in
the mutual interest of both the municipality and landowners to develop this
area properly,” Ružičić stated.
Construction could begin this building season, according to
her expectations.
Landowners and other residents of the municipality have 15
days to submit proposals and suggestions for the strategy. “We will strive to
incorporate all quality proposals into the strategy to achieve a high-quality
final product, benefiting the local community, landowners, tourists, and
visitors of Đol Lake,” Ružičić added, as reported by Glas Srpske.
She also noted that there are plans to work on projects for
the smaller Đol Lake and the coastal area of Pliva in phases. The small Đol has
a physical connection with Pliva and covers an area of about half a hectare,
while the large Đol spans around two hectares, forming a unique hydrological
system. Additionally, the lake is a popular fishing destination, especially for
perch and carp.
