A delegation from the Ministry of Trade and Tourism of Republika Srpska paid a working visit to Belgrade and Oplenac on March 27, 2026, where meetings were held with representatives of the Karađorđević family and the King Peter I Karađorđević Foundation. The meetings focused on presenting a new tourism project titled “Karadjordje Trails through Republika Srpska.”
The project, initiated by Assistant Minister
for Tourism Predrag Tešić, is designed as a unique tourism product that
showcases the rich tangible and intangible heritage of the Karađorđević dynasty
across Republika Srpska in a modern and engaging way.
“The route is designed to guide visitors
through locations that bear witness to the life and legacy of the royal
family—from endowments and historical sites to memorial landmarks—offering a
comprehensive and authentic experience of that period and its significance for
national identity and statehood development,” Tešić said during the project
presentation in Belgrade.
During a separate meeting in Topola, the
delegation also met with Dragan Reljić, manager of the King Peter I
Karađorđević Foundation, who confirmed readiness for active professional
cooperation to ensure the historical accuracy and authenticity of the route’s
content.
Tešić emphasized that the project goes beyond
a traditional tourism concept, aiming not only to enrich the tourism offer but
also to contribute to the preservation and presentation of a heritage deeply rooted
in the identity of the Serbian people.
“The Karađorđević dynasty left an indelible
mark on our history—from the struggle for liberation and the creation of a
modern state to the building of institutions and the preservation of cultural
and spiritual heritage. This route aims to bring these values closer to both
domestic and international visitors, while also connecting local communities
through a unified tourism product,” he added.
The planned route will include key destinations such as Zvornik, Višegrad, Han Pijesak, Pale, Banja Luka, and Mrkonjić Grad, forming a recognizable and content-rich tourism unit. The long-term goal is to expand the route to include municipalities in Serbia, creating a unified cross-border tourism program.
Initial steps in this direction have already
been taken. Meetings in Belgrade and Oplenac were also attended by Dobrica
Milosavljević, Assistant to the Mayor of Petrovac na Mlavi, and Vedrana
Lazarević, Assistant Director of the local tourism organization, both actively
involved in integrating Serbian municipalities into the project.
Director of the Tourist Organization of Banja
Luka, Minja Šurlan, who was part of the Republika Srpska delegation, подчеркла
је that the institution will actively participate in the further development
and promotion of the project. She added that its implementation will contribute
to the growth of cultural tourism, strengthen regional cooperation within a
shared cultural space, and educate younger generations about the importance of
the Karađorđević dynasty in the development of statehood and institutions.
In the coming period, the Ministry of Trade
and Tourism of Republika Srpska will organize a joint meeting with
representatives of local communities to define route details, prepare
promotional materials, and finalize the tourism program. A joint working group
consisting of representatives from Republika Srpska and Serbia will also be
established to coordinate cooperation and further development of the project.
