The entrance to Foča will soon be adorned with a massive mural showcasing the city's tourist attractions along the banks of the Drina and Ćehotina rivers. This masterpiece is being crafted by the academic painter Vladimir Milanović.
Located on the retaining wall opposite the South Freedom
Bridge, right at the entrance to Foča, the mural is part of a project by the
Foča Municipality to beautify the city’s entrance and promote its tourist
destinations.
The mural will feature tourist highlights such as the Sand
Pyramids, rafting on the Tara and Drina rivers, the Temple of Saint Sava, the
Sutjeska Battle Memorial, the Clock Tower, Donje Bare on Zelengora, and
Prijevor. It will also include the crests of sister cities and the logo of one
of the oldest mountaineering societies in Bosnia and Herzegovina—the
Mountaineering Society "Zelengora" from Foča.
After the completion of the construction work and preparation of the mural's base, the artistic task was entrusted to Vladimir Milanović, an academic painter from Foča.
Additionally, the mural, which will span about 450 meters
along the highway that connects the north and east of Srpska with Herzegovina,
as well as Serbia with Trebinje, Herceg Novi, and Dubrovnik, will also feature
the crests of Foča and its sister cities—Larissa in Greece, Kragujevac, and
Herceg Novi.
The municipality has announced plans to prepare another
large retaining wall on Nikola Pašić Street, below the Youth Sports Center, for
a mural featuring prominent Serbian athletes later this year.
