The 59th Regional Agricultural Exhibition and Fair was officially opened in Rogatica, showcasing more than 200 exhibitors from the Gornji Drina and Sarajevo-Romanija regions.
Farmers
from these regions presented high-quality cattle, sheep, goats, and horses bred
on their own farms. In addition to livestock, the fair featured traditional
homemade products such as skorup-kaymak, potatoes, savory pies, and other local
delicacies.
The
Mayor of Rogatica, Ninoslav Prelić, emphasized the long-standing agricultural
tradition of the municipality, noting its fertile land and the vital role
farming plays in local life.
“As
long as we have production and agriculture, we will have healthy families and a
healthy environment,” said Prelić at the opening ceremony. “I want to thank the
hardworking hosts and exhibitors who are with us today. This event is not just
an opportunity to display products and present a year’s worth of work — it's a
place to share experiences, gain new knowledge, and improve skills.”
Among the many exhibitors was Agros, a Rogatica-based company founded in 1991. The firm specializes in the production of seed and table potatoes, the distribution of animal feed, and operates an agricultural pharmacy.
Agricultural
engineer Milanko Ristanović from Agros stated that this year the company
planted 32 hectares of seed potatoes and 18 hectares of table potatoes.
“We’re
expecting a yield of about 1,200 tons. Looking ahead, we plan to open a
facility for potato processing and the production of semi-finished products,”
said Ristanović.
As
part of the “Rogatica 2025” fair, the first-ever Arabian horse races will be
held, organized by the Association of Borike Arabian Horse Breeders. Ten
racehorses are registered for the competition.
The
Municipality of Rogatica, which is the official sponsor of the race, has
secured a prize fund of 5,000 KM. The first-place winner will receive 2,000 KM,
the second-place 1,500 KM, while the third, fourth, and fifth places will each
be awarded 500 KM.
