Bastašica, one of the most beautiful rivers, is hidden in the vicinity of Drvar.
Bastašica is a small river, but it holds within it endless beauty and riches. It is only one kilometer long, from its source to its confluence with the Unac River, and its emerald colors and crystal-clear waters take your breath away. Throughout its entire course, even over numerous waterfalls, the water remains drinkable and pristine.
The source of this river is located in a deep karst spring, surrounded by high cliffs, about five kilometers from the center of Drvar, in the village of Bastasi. This spring is not only a natural gem but also a challenge for divers who wish to explore its depths.
Bastašica is not just a natural attraction; it is also of historical significance. During World War II, shortly before the famous Drvar Operation, Josip Broz Tito stayed in a cave near the source of Bastašica. Today, this cave is one of Drvar's main attractions. After the war, Tito visited this village, and in his honor, the motel "Bastašica" was built, which is now unfortunately in ruins, but it still serves as a landmark for tourists looking to find the path to the spring.
Although Bastašica is rich in trout, fishing in this river is prohibited, further preserving its natural balance and beauty.
