According to eKapija, the mayor of Zavidovići, Erna Merdić Smailhodžić, has announced the launch of a broad campaign under the symbolic name "Let's Bring the Villa Back to Zavidovići." She intends to call on local citizens to unite in efforts to save the villa, a symbol of Zavidovići, from further deterioration, devastation, and potential transfer to other hands.
The Krivajina Villa in Zavidovići is an Austro-Hungarian architectural jewel built at the end of the 19th century.
It originally served as the headquarters for the company "Eissler und Ortlieb," where the director, Fritz Regenstreiff, resided. The company, founded in 1884, was one of the largest and most modern enterprises in Europe at the time, specializing in the exploitation of the forest wealth in the Krivaja basin.
The Krivajina Villa was constructed as part of the timber exploitation complex and stands as a reminder of the early era of industrialization in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
