The Roman, or possibly Illyrian, well in the village of Presjeka near Nevesinje has retained its original form and remains functional.
Located in Brijest, an area without running water, this well
is of vital importance to the local residents.
The well got its name because of the elm trees that grow nearby, as it is believed that where elms grow naturally, there is a water source.
This was a sign for people who wanted to dig wells, so they
sought water where wild elm trees were found.
