The Ministry of Spatial Planning, Construction and Ecology of the Republic of Srpska has prepared a draft decision to declare "Guber" in the municipality of Srebrenica a Nature Park, aiming to place the wider spring zone of this area under protection.
As confirmed to SRNA by the Ministry, the Republic Institute for the Protection of Cultural-Historical and Natural Heritage has completed a protection study as the basis for the park's declaration.
A significant 99.46 percent of the park area is covered by natural and cultivated forest ecosystems, making it highly suitable for leisure, recreation, and health tourism. Among natural forests, beech and sessile oak trees dominate, while black pine is the most prevalent species among cultivated forests.
This area has the potential to become a health-tourism spa complex due to its healing mineral springs and confirmed high air quality.
The Ministry recalls that the Government of Srpska has previously declared the “Banja Guber” geographical area an air spa, acknowledging the therapeutic qualities of the local climate.
The protection study emphasizes that health and hiking tourism are the most economically significant activities in the protected zone. These forms of tourism are gaining popularity worldwide, and there is a growing demand for such experiences—an opportunity that this area is well-positioned to embrace and develop further.
