Among the released animals are stags, does, and fawns, all sourced from a nearby breeding facility and having undergone necessary veterinary inspections. A ceremony was also held today to celebrate the start of this project, which has been funded by the budget of the "Majevica" Hunting Association in Lopare, along with donations from hunters within the association.

The President of the "Majevica" Hunting Association in Lopare, Goran Tasovac, expressed his excitement, stating that today they are celebrating the return of the European deer, which inhabited Majevica in the 1970s but sadly disappeared due to wartime events. He emphasized that hunters aim to enrich Majevica with deer and expect to see reproduction by May. "We have set everything up to monitor their movement at all times," said Tasovac.

The Secretary-General of the Republic of Srpska's Hunting Association, Živojin Lazić, praised this "pioneering" release as a beneficial and positive action, extending thanks to all institutions that helped make it possible and pledging full support to the Majevica Hunting Association.

The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Energy and Mining of the Republic of Srpska, Petar Đokić, who commended the hunters for their efforts in environmental conservation. He noted that the deer’s presence on Majevica is being restored after 30 years and expressed his joy at witnessing such a significant event.

The Mayor of Lopare, Rado Savić, told reporters that the love of the people of Majevica for nature is evident from the large crowd that gathered to witness this event.

The deer reintroduction project was initiated by the "Majevica" Hunting Association in Lopare, with support from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management of the Republic of Srpska, the Hunting Association, and the Republic Institute for the Protection of Cultural-Historical and Natural Heritage.
