Munich's Oktoberfest opens this Saturday, when fans will rush towards the beer tents to have their first liters at the world’s largest folk festival.
However, the price has hit a record high, with a liter now costing €15.
Despite rising prices, this hasn’t deterred guests in the past. According to city statistics, over 7.4 million liters of beer were consumed last year.
Those opting for hydration can rejoice, as drinking water has been available free of charge at pumps across the festival since last year.
Aksel Munc, head of the traditional costume chain Angermaier, claims that the most popular dirndl colors this year include "elegant purple, soft mint and sage, royal blue, deep red or green, and classic black."
For those unable to attend in Munich, Oktoberfest is now available in digital form.
The video game "Oktoberfest – The Official Game," created by Munich-based studio K5 Factory, will be launched at the start of the festival, allowing players to experience the event as avatars through virtual reality headsets.
