Beer prices have reached record levels this year. A “Mass,” or one liter of beer in a mug, now costs over €15, with the most expensive beer in the ‘Münchner Stubn’ tent reaching €15.80 per liter. This is a significant increase compared to last year, when prices were slightly below €15.

Despite rising beer prices, visitor numbers remain high, with approximately seven million beer mugs consumed annually. Oktoberfest is an easily accessible event, with convenient and fast transport options, while traditional attire includes the dirndl for women and leather trousers for men.

Although entrance to the festival is free, reservations are required for the large festival tents due to high demand.

Gastronomy at Oktoberfest remains true to tradition while embracing new trends, such as vegetarian and vegan dishes. However, classic meat dishes remain the best-sellers, particularly roast chicken (“Hendl”), with around 500,000 sold each year. Last year, visitors consumed 125 oxen and 70,000 pork knuckles.

Oktoberfest is also well-known for its strict visitor safety measures. Climate neutrality is becoming a key focus, with the festival aiming to be fully climate-neutral by 2028. Since 2023, Oktoberfest has used exclusively green electricity, and practices such as recycling and reducing plastic make the event more environmentally friendly.

Every year, approximately 3,500 to 4,500 lost items are collected, most commonly wallets, mobile phones, jackets, and keys. Among the more unusual items found were a Viking helmet, an eight-centimeter folding knife, and even a dog, reports Tanjug.
