A pudding made from old bread and apples is an ideal dessert that you can prepare very quickly.
Ingredients:
- Half a loaf of old bread
- 3 apples
- Half a cup of brown sugar (you can use white)
- 4 tablespoons of butter (or margarine)
- 4 eggs
- 2.5 cups of milk
- 1/2 cup of sugar
For the caramel sauce:
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- 1/2 cup of butter
- 1/4 cup of heavy cream
Preparation:
Cut the bread into cubes and bake it in the oven for about ten minutes until lightly golden, then pour the cubes into the dish in which you'll bake the pudding. Dice the apples and sauté them with the brown sugar and butter until the sugar melts and the apples soften, then pour them over the bread and mix everything together.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and half a cup of sugar, then pour this mixture over the apples and bread. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 20 minutes, and during that time, make the caramel sauce.
Melt the sugar, add the butter, and finally, stir in the cream. You can serve the pudding with ice cream or whipped cream if desired, but it’s perfect even without it, according to Bakina Vanglica.
