Perfect soup dumplings are not only possible — they're easy to make with a simple recipe and a few clever tricks. The result? Always soft, airy, and delicious dumplings that elevate any bowl of soup.
Ingredients for 4 servings:
1 egg
3 tablespoons of wheat semolina
2–3 tablespoons of oil or lard
1 teaspoon of seasoning (such as Vegeta or "Začin C")
An additional 2 tablespoons of semolina (added at the end)
Preparation:
Start by beating the egg with a fork, then mix in the oil or melted lard. Add three tablespoons of semolina — not heaping, just level spoonfuls. Stir in the teaspoon of seasoning. Finally, add two more tablespoons of semolina to finish the mixture.
Once your soup is boiling, gently drop spoonfuls of the dumpling mixture into the pot. Allow them to simmer for a few minutes, then remove the pot from heat and cover. Let the dumplings sit and steam for 10–15 minutes.
This easy method guarantees soft and fluffy dumplings every time.
