RESPECT THOSE WHO CARE FOR THEIR OWN

Banja Luka professor Đorđe Vuković frequently shares thoughtful reflections on his Facebook profile, addressing issues related to the social and cultural survival of the Serbian people. Although our media primarily focuses on tourism, we strive to publish viewpoints that we believe are important for the society in which we live. For this reason, we are conveying Professor Vuković’s post in its original form, without any edits.

Croatia is building a cultural and student center in Petrićevac. This is called strategy. Whether one likes it or not, this is how long-term thinking is done, how influence is built, and how a nation takes care of itself. Investment in culture and education has been a winning strategy since the beginning of time.

Recently, I had the opportunity to hear in detail how the Serbian people in Croatia are working on their survival and future. I was genuinely impressed. Honestly, there was much I did not know. Despite facing catastrophic problems for more than 30 years, despite the fact that the total number of Serbs in Croatia is not even half the population of Banja Luka, and despite living their daily lives surrounded by Serbophobia, our intelligent and united people from politics, science, the economy, and culture are thinking 50 years ahead and achieving remarkable results—through culture, knowledge, and faith.

This is the only national platform that truly makes sense, that deserves support, and that we also need here—where we have everything except it, which is why we risk losing everything we have, slowly but surely.

Those who invest in their culture and education do not fear others; they respect those who take care of their own. The future belongs to them.
