IN FOČA, SWIMMING FOR THE HOLY CROSS ON TWO RIVERS

On Epiphany, Monday, January 19, the traditional swimming for the Holy Cross will be organized in Foča and Miljevina, on the rivers Ćehotina and Bistrica.

After the Holy Liturgy at the Church of Saint Sava, a ceremonial procession will head toward the Ćehotina River, where the swimming for the Holy Cross is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at the swimming area next to the stadium of the “Sutjeska” Football Club.

The Epiphany gathering continues in Miljevina. Following the Holy Liturgy at the Church of the Holy Prophet Elijah, participants will gather at 12:00 p.m. at the central monument to fallen soldiers and civilians, from where the ceremonial procession will proceed to the swimming area in the Ocrkavlje settlement. 

The swimming for the Holy Cross in the Bistrica River is planned to begin at 1:00 p.m.

This event, which attracts a growing number of participants and believers each year, represents a strong symbol of faith, courage, and spiritual renewal, and is organized as part of the event “Winter in Foča.”
