THE VASIĆ FAMILY PRESERVES A MILL AT THE SOURCE OF THE PLIVA RIVER FOR OVER TWO CENTURIES

Once, the houses were filled with people, and just one family would grind several tons of flour at this mill. Today, the scene is different. Those who come to the mill for flour are mostly people who follow a healthy lifestyle, said miller Aleksandar Vasić from Šipovo, whose family has been in this business for over 200 years.

"The mill grinds slowly. My mill takes several hours for 100 kg. Three to four hours, and that’s the quality of the flour. This is whole-grain flour with all the bran. Nothing is separated, it’s made from the entire grain, and it’s very healthy," said the miller at the source of the Pliva River.

And the environment where the flour is milled is just as healthy.

The Vasić mill is located in untouched nature, right at the source of the Pliva River in Šipovo.

The Vasić family says they work with love.

Without love, they say, there is nothing. With nostalgia, they recall the time after World War II when there were more than 20 mills in the area.

Today, only one remains.

That's why the Vasić family vows to continue this work for as long as they live, preserving the family tradition.
