As the river calms and the rafting season slowly fades into memory, life in the camps along the Tara and Drina rivers doesn’t stop. At the "Tri Vodenice" camp, the hosts are working at full steam.
Currently
underway is the traditional distillation of homemade plum brandy, winter
preparations for the camp, and the crafting of delicious homemade goods like
jams and preserves. Everything is being done with one goal in mind: to greet
the next season well-prepared and filled with the unmistakable scents of
tradition.
The rakija is distilled the old-fashioned way — in a copper still over a wood fire — with careful separation of the first and best parts of the brandy, ensuring both high quality and the recognizable aroma of true homemade šljivovica.
Miomir
Savić, the owner of the camp, has been preserving this tradition for years,
guiding every step of the process with great care and experience. As he puts
it: “When you work with soul and knowledge, there’s no room for mistakes.”
"The
scent of brandy, the warmth of the fire, and the view of nature preparing for
winter — that’s what autumn looks like at Tri Vodenice camp," say
representatives from the Foča Tourist Organization.
