Banja Luka is hosting its first “Banja Luka Honey Days,” bringing together 18 local beekeepers who are showcasing their finest honey and bee products until October 25.
The event celebrates local production, traditional beekeeping, and the natural richness of the region, offering visitors an opportunity to discover authentic flavors and support domestic producers.
Supporting Local Beekeepers
Banja Luka is home to approximately 350 registered beekeepers managing around 20,000 beehives. This year, approximately BAM 100,000 has been allocated to support beekeeping, alongside additional assistance for purchasing equipment.
Local producers emphasize the exceptional quality of honey from the region and encourage consumers to buy directly from trusted beekeepers.
Honey as Part of the Region's Gastronomic Heritage
Plans for the future include establishing beekeeping centers and a museum dedicated to this traditional craft, with a special focus on educating younger generations.
More than just a marketplace, Banja Luka Honey Days promotes local entrepreneurship, sustainable traditions, and the region's gastronomic identity, highlighting honey as one of the natural treasures of the Krajina region.
