A young programmer and innovator from Gradiška, Kenan Mahmutagić of Monotik Group, has secured co-financing for his educational video game project, “Guardians of Heritage”, under a public call launched by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Srpska.
The
ministry has published the results of this year’s competition for the
development of cultural and creative industries, introducing, for the first
time, a dedicated category supporting the production of educational video
games.
Mahmutagić’s
project was among the successful applications, marking an important step
forward for the local gaming industry and the development of innovative digital
products in Gradiška.
VIDEO GAMES AS A TOOL FOR EDUCATION AND CULTURAL HERITAGE
The competition reflects growing recognition of the gaming industry as an important part of the creative economy and a modern platform for promoting education and cultural heritage.
“Guardians of Heritage” is conceived as an interactive adventure developed using the Unity game engine. Through engaging gameplay and logic-based challenges, the game aims to introduce younger generations to the importance of preserving historical and cultural heritage.
The
project combines modern technology with educational content, offering an
innovative approach to learning and raising awareness of the value of cultural
heritage.
SUPPORT FOR LOCAL CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION
Mahmutagić
welcomed the ministry’s decision to introduce a dedicated category for video
games, describing the support as significant recognition for both himself and
Monotik Group.
“I am
extremely pleased that the Ministry of Education and Culture has introduced a
category for video games, giving domestic creators a strong boost. For me
personally and for Monotik, this is a major recognition from the expert
committee,” Mahmutagić said.
“Our
goal is to demonstrate through ‘Guardians of Heritage’ how cutting-edge
technologies can be used to educate new generations. The ministry’s support
will allow us to raise the production process to a significantly higher level
and prove that competitive digital products can also be developed in Gradiška,”
he added.
DEVELOPMENT AND TESTING PHASE AHEAD
Following
the official completion of the competition procedure, the Monotik team will
begin intensive programming and design work.
The
first working versions and test demonstrations of the game are expected in the
coming period, marking the next stage in the development of a project that
brings together gaming, education and cultural heritage.
The
initiative also highlights the potential of local innovators to develop modern
digital solutions and contribute to the growth of the creative industries in
the Republic of Srpska.
