The central event of the manifestation will take place on Sunday, April 6, at 8 PM in the Cultural Center, featuring an evening with Matija Bećković, a renowned poet. The keynote speaker will be Miroslav Maksimović, a poet and essayist, and recipient of the Dučić Award.

"We will have the opportunity to spend the evening with Matija Bećković, who rarely travels nowadays, but he will come to our city," announced Slađana Skočajić, Head of the Department for Culture at the City Administration.

This year’s "Dučić’s Day" will begin on Saturday with the opening of the Scientific Conference on the poetics of Zlata Kocić, the latest recipient of the Dučić Award. The conference will start at 9:30 AM in the large hall of the City Assembly and will continue on Sunday.

During the event, the Award Committee will decide the winner of the Dučić Award for 2025.

As part of the cultural program, on Saturday, April 5, at 6 PM, the National Library will host the promotion of the Collection of Scientific Papers titled “Poetry and Poetic Thought of Novica Tadić”. On Sunday, at 6:30 PM, the Museum of Herzegovina will open an exhibition titled “Serbian Medieval Ornaments”, presented by the Museum of Serbia – Golubac Fortress.

On Sunday, April 6, at 9:30 AM, flowers will be laid at the monuments of Dučić and Njegoš at Freedom Square. Additionally, on Blagovesti, the anniversary of Dučić’s passing, a liturgical service and memorial will be held at Herzegovina Gračanica at 9 AM, where the poet’s remains have been resting since the year 2000.

"This year, we will finally mark all the monuments that Dučić donated to his hometown. This is important not only for us, who cherish the memory of the poet, but also for visitors to his birthplace, to see that he was not only a poet but also a visionary and benefactor," emphasized Slađana Skočajić.

She also highlighted that this year's “Dučić’s Poetry Evenings” will be unique, as only previous recipients of the Dučić Award will participate in the poetic gathering.

Poet Jovan Dučić passed away on Blagovesti, April 7, 1943, in the United States.
