DOBOJ LIBRARY REACHES MILESTONE: 100,000th PUBLICATION ADDED TO COLLECTION

The National Library in Doboj has officially recorded its 100,000th publication, marking a major milestone for the institution, Director Lidija Žarić told SRNA.

Žarić said it was an honor that librarian Dragica Lazić, who is responsible for the acquisition, cataloguing, classification, and processing of library materials, registered the 100,000th item.

She expressed satisfaction that this achievement comes in the year when the library celebrates eight decades since its founding.

“The library had never previously surpassed the 100,000 mark. Before the war, the collection was close to 98,000 items, but numbers fluctuated due to a lack of new acquisitions. In 2014, around 40,000 publications were destroyed in the May floods,” Žarić said.

She also recalled that the founding act of the Doboj library dates back to May 9, 1946.
