Trebinje will kick off its summer tourist season on Friday, May 24th, with the First Wine Festival that will bring together 40 producers from six countries.
"Winefine 2024" will take place at Liberty Square as part of a joint project between the city of Trebinje and the Swiss organization "Caritas". Bojan Vučurević, the head of the city's Department of Tourism, Environmental Protection, and Entrepreneurship, announced during a press conference that the festival will also feature five local food producers.
Vučurević added that the entertainment program will include a performance by actor Ivan Bosiljčić, with a large turnout expected.
Mayor Mirko Ćurić stated that according to official data, the upcoming tourist season is expected to be record-breaking.
"The fact that out of about 30 wineries from the entire region, 20 are located in Trebinje speaks volumes about their significance to our city's tourism. In April, there was a 35 percent increase in overnight stays compared to the previous record year, and this trend has continued into May, indicating that we are entering a record-breaking season," Ćurić said.
Nikola Kokić, the spokesperson for the Trebinje Tourist Organization, mentioned that a large number of visitors are expected for the opening of the tourist season on Friday, May 24th, with singer Aco Pejović performing.
He also announced that the city's Tourist Organization will host a mini fair of regional tourist organizations on Saturday at 10:00 am, followed by a showcase of traditional Herzegovinian costumes by the Cultural and Artistic Society "Alat Svislajon" at 11:00 am.
Kokić emphasized that accommodation bookings on various platforms are already over 80 percent full and invited tourists to visit Trebinje this weekend.
