The Mayor of Trebinje, Mirko Ćurić, who is also the President of the Tourism Council, announced that the "WINE FINE, Trebinje 2025" wine and gastro festival will be held again this year on May 3rd.

We have already completed analyses of the current situation and challenges in the tourism sector that we may face in the upcoming period. Based on the results of tourist satisfaction surveys regarding public services, accommodation, and hospitality, the average rating is 4.5 out of 5. However, alarming data reveals that some hotels have less than 15% occupancy annually, while others exceed 60%. We need to verify if these data are accurate; if so, support should be provided to the entrepreneur, or perhaps guests have not been reported. We expect concrete results from the Tourism Council in the future, Mayor Ćurić explained.

Bojan Vučurević, Head of the Department of Tourism and Deputy President of the Council, emphasized that Trebinje is rapidly becoming a growing tourist destination, which could lead to a number of problems if the tourism sector is not improved.

We want sustainable tourism development, so that our citizens feel the benefits of tourism rather than being negatively affected in their own city. Proposals for improving the tourism sector mainly involve staff training in tourism, addressing foreign language barriers, and helping them upgrade their skills to provide better services to tourists. The establishment of the Tourism Council is part of a project implemented by the City of Trebinje, the Development Agency, and the Tourism Organization in cooperation with the Swiss organization CARITAS, Vučurević stated.

Marko Radić, Director of the Tourism Promotion Sector of the Republic of Srpska Tourism Organization, said that the Tourism Council will bring together city institutions, the private sector, and the academic community to further promote tourism in Trebinje.

In addition, the Council will apply pressure to improve, promote, and develop tourism in the city. The private sector and the academic community will be able to submit initiatives to the City Administration to address potential problems. Today, we adopted the Rules of Procedure of the Tourism Council, and all future activities will be focused on improving tourism in the City of Trebinje, Radić noted.

The Tourism Council was established in September of last year with the goal of bringing together key stakeholders in tourism and facilitating constructive dialogue, collaboration, and the adoption of strategic decisions that will contribute to enhancing Trebinje's tourism offerings.
