The play "Patriarch Pavle – Being a Man Among Men and Non-Humans" was performed in Prijedor as a moving and humanitarian event. The proceeds from the performance, which had a charitable purpose, will be directed to the Citizens' Association "Plavi Balon," which provides support to individuals with intellectual disabilities.
The director of the play is Milan Rus, while the screenplay was written by Jovan Janjić, a journalist who had long conversations with Patriarch Pavle, wrote articles about him, and compiled his thoughts into several books.
Milan Malbaša, who portrays Patriarch Pavle in the play, shared that this role was a great challenge and responsibility for him, and he prepared for it for nearly a year.
The play also features Aleksandar Dunić, an actor from the Belgrade Theater on Terazije, who remarked that Patriarch Pavle's words were always deeply thoughtful, simple yet philosophical, timeless, and elevated to great heights.
"The most difficult and complex part was the text. We were careful not to fall into the temptation of reconstructing the dialogue, and Professor Janjić helped us by preparing parts of the conversations with the Patriarch, linking them into a whole, and thus creating the play," said Dunić.
He also mentioned that the play, produced by the Serbian Theater from Budapest, has been running since September 2022 and has been performed 75 times so far.
The performance was held last night at the Prijedor Theater, organized by the "Youth for Youth" organization.
Aleksandra Đaković, a representative of "Youth for Youth," stated that her colleagues have been promoting spiritual content for some time now, which has been well-received by the people.
"We had an evening of preaching with Father Rafail in our parish, and that’s when we saw how much interest there is in such topics, which we need to promote, respect, and return to these important aspects of life," Đaković emphasized.
