Access routes and interior areas have been arranged, walls and paths cleared, and vegetation and waste removed, allowing the old town to welcome the new tourist season cleaner, more accessible and ready for visitors coming to Doboj from many regions.

A Must-Visit Landmark

Gradina remains an essential stop for anyone who wants to experience the spirit of the city, enjoy panoramic views of Doboj and feel the unique blend of history, stone architecture and open space that gives this location its special charm.

As the city’s best-known tourist attraction and a true symbol of Doboj, the fortress has for years drawn the attention of visitors, excursion groups, families and enthusiasts of cultural and historical heritage.

A History Spanning More Than Six Centuries

Gradina’s special value lies in its historical importance. According to official sources, the construction of the stone walls of the Doboj fortress began in the 13th century, while the name Doboj was first mentioned in historical documents in 1415.

The fortress was originally built to control an important road and crossroads in the Bosna River valley. Over time, it became the core around which the town itself developed. Today, the Old Town of Doboj is protected as a national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Preserving Heritage for Future Generations

This year’s renovation carries additional significance, as it is not only about preparing the site for the tourist season but also about preserving the heritage that Gradina has guarded for centuries.

The well-maintained surroundings, the views from the ramparts and the authenticity of the old fortification leave a strong impression on everyone who climbs up to the site, whether they are visiting Doboj for the first time or returning once again.

Open Every Day

Gradina is open to visitors every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Doboj Tourist Organization says it is entering the new season with the goal of making this landmark even more visible on the tourist map and even more attractive to both domestic and international guests.

– We want Gradina to welcome every new season well-maintained, dignified and ready for visitors, because it is not only a historical site but also one of the most beautiful places from which Doboj can be experienced in a special way. We believe it will once again attract many guests this year and become a place where history, relaxation and the beauty of our city meet – said Vojislav Rađa, director of the Doboj Tourist Organization.

With renovated spaces and prepared facilities, Gradina enters the new season as one of the city’s most valuable symbols – open, well-kept and ready to welcome tourists from all sides.
