HISTORICAL STROLL ALONG NOVI GRAD RIVERSIDE PROMENADE
One of the greatest attractions of Novi Grad is the famous three-kilometer-long stone-walled embankment known as the Novi Grad "Kej."

The promenade features an alley of shady chestnut trees and fragrant linden trees, making it a beloved destination for locals and tourists for over a century. The construction of this promenade occurred in several phases.
The main works were initiated by the municipal authorities during the Austro-Hungarian period from 1903 to 1906, and were continued by the royal government from 1934 to 1937.
The remaining unembanked spaces with slightly elevated embankments were completed by the authorities after major floods in 1954 and 1955, while the upstream Vidorijski section was embanked after the construction of the hotel in 1985. Following these developments, the promenade gained its completeness, albeit with an unavoidable interruption at the bridge over the Una River and the Old Town Hall.
The Kej bestowed upon the town an urban charm, with many comparing it to far more famous promenades like those along the Seine in Paris, the Danube in Vienna, and others across European capitals.
