Sara Ćetković, a talented young artist, continues to captivate the art world with her unique creations.
Her painting from the series "Shells", inspired by close family relationships and reflections of carefree childhood, has been included in this year’s list of artworks purchased by the Ministry of Education and Culture of Republika Srpska.
The "Shells" series was recommended for acquisition by the "Branko Radičević" Public Library in Derventa, where the painting will be displayed. Ćetković, who completed her undergraduate studies in painting, has already embarked on her master's program and has been passionate about art since childhood.
"I’ve loved drawing and experimenting with art materials since I was a child. My first steps towards formal education in this field were enrolling in the secondary school of technology to become an art technician," Sara recalls. Although moving away from her parents at a young age was challenging, her bond with her brother, who was studying in Banja Luka, served as a source of inspiration for "Shells".
Through the 20 pieces that make up the series, Sara explored her artistic capabilities, delved into visual elements, and refined her oil-on-canvas technique. "The earlier works in the series are characterized by realism, but as the series progressed, I began focusing on details, shifting towards abstract forms," Sara explains.
NEW HORIZONS IN ART
Currently pursuing her master's degree, Sara is exploring themes of spirituality and religion, drawing inspiration from the Gospels, the Old and New Testaments, and Psalms. Unlike "Shells", this emerging series will include installations, photographs, animations, and other media. "I plan to integrate various materials, such as gauze, jute, cotton, thread, and wax," she shares, expressing her desire to first present this work to her hometown of Derventa.
Sara has already held three solo exhibitions. Her debut exhibition took place in Prijedor with the "Shells" series as a reward for her achievements during her studies. Subsequent exhibitions followed in Banja Luka and Laktaši. "I would love to showcase my work to the people of Derventa, the town where I grew up," Sara adds with pride.
CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE
The Ministry of Education and Culture of Republika Srpska will acquire 39 artworks from 37 artists this year for 14 cultural institutions. Sara's painting was nominated by the "Branko Radičević" Library, which strives to support local artists and build a collection of their works.
Library Director Mirjana Plisnić emphasized the institution's commitment to promoting the artistic talents of Derventa. "Our goal is to bring together visual artists and, through initiatives like this, create a collection of local artworks. We congratulate Sara on this remarkable achievement," said Plisnić.
Sara Ćetković's journey is a testament to the power of creativity, perseverance, and the deep personal connections that inspire extraordinary art.
